AskCymru Privacy Policy: terms and Conditions
Thank you for using AskCymru. This document states the terms on which AskCymru provides you with a service and explains what happens to your information once stored on our servers.
Please read these terms carefully before acknowledging your acceptance and submitting your question.
Privacy Statement
Certain personal information is asked of you in order to deliver the AskCymru service and assist librarians in providing a relevant, accurate answer to your question.
Your name and email address are two elements requested when submitting your question. These elements are discarded by AskCymru once your question has been answered and you confirm that the question-and-answer discussion has come to an end.
Any personal information collected is disclosed only to the extent necessary to answer your question. For example, the on-duty librarian may need to refer your question to another participating library in order to answer your question more fully. AskCymru does not provide personal information to any party except as required to do so by law.
The E-Mail Address and Name fields of the question submission web form are specifically designed to collect personal information and as such this data is therefore deleted before your question-and-answer is saved in Question Archive, and published online, if permission for public release has been granted by you. However, any information you provide in fields other than the E-mail Address and Name fields, such as the Your Question field are retained in the Question Archive for future reference by participating library staff and also published online if you agreed to this at the time of submission; we therefore encourage you to provide your e-mail address and name ONLY in fields specifically requesting such information.
Your question, the librarian's answer, and any demographic information collected may be used to analyse usage, evaluate the service and provide training material.
You understand that while we do our best to protect your personal information, AskCymru cannot ensure or warrant the absolute security of any information you transmit through this service. You agree that any information you provide on the question submission form and subsequent question text fields are your sole responsibility and that you transmit information through this service at your own risk.
You acknowledge and agree that AskCymru may store all electronic transactions carried out between you and the on-duty librarian, for an indefinite period.
You hereby grant to AskCymru the perpetual, nonexclusive, world-wide right to edit, compile, and make searchable by libraries all closed question-and-answer discussion threads, provided all personal information as provided by you in the Your Name and Email Address fields of the question submission form is deleted from the text. Question-and-answers may be made searchable online by the public only with your permission, and all personal information as provided by you in the Your Name and Email Address fields of the question submission form have been deleted from the text.
