Answer: Hello,
Wales has many individual counties and there is no central resource of the many newspapers that I can search through. I have conducted an extensive online search, and while there are many resources that appear to allow searching of newspaper databases, I cannot find one that is free. Indivuidual authority libraries may have access to free newspaper archives, as we do, but generally these online databases do not go back far enough to answer your query.
Possible avenues for research include:
The National Library of Wales. http://www.llgc.org.uk/index.php?id=2
They are in the process of digitising Welsh newspapers. http://www.llgc.org.uk/index.php?id=4723
This is a direct link to the search page: http://discover.llgc.org.uk/default.ashx?q=newspapers
You could also try the British Library http://www.bl.uk/
This is a direct link to their newspaper archives http://www.bl.uk/reshelp/bldept/news/index.html
I have been in touch with the Caernarvon Record Office who tell me that they hold copies of the 'Caernarfon and Denbigh Herald' and the 'North Wales Chronicle' for 1965. If you are a Welsh speaker they also have the 'Herald Cymraeg'. To contact them directly you can call: 01286 67909
Their website is at http://www.gwynedd.gov.uk/gwy_doc.asp?cat=3693&doc=12971&Language=1&p=1&c=1
While we are unable to answer your query directly, we hope that the links and contacts above will help you locate the article that you seek.
Good luck with you research,
