Permission to perform readings from books publically would depend on copyright. I would suggest contacting the publishers of the book you wish to read publically to clarify.
May I also suggest the book produced by The Reader Organisation 'A Little, Aloud: An anthology of prose and poetry for reading aloud to someone you care for' by Angela Macmillan. This contains a selection of carefully selected literature designed especially to be read aloud. Please see the following website for further details http://thereader.org.uk/
